Pudsey: Town centre car park will have short stay role

A car park in Pudsey town centre is set to be transformed into a short-stay site following public demand.

Proposals have been unveiled by Leeds City Council's highways department to transform Lidget Hill car park into a short-stay 85-vehicle site.

The plans follow demands from residents to cater for people who only visit the market town for no more than two hours.

Coun Richard Lewis (Lab, Pudsey) said: "It is important to strike the right balance in the town centre between short-stay and long-stay parking, ensuring there is adequate parking provision for shoppers who come into the town centre and only need to park for a couple of hours.

"The proposed two-hour parking restrictions will free up 85 short-stay parking spaces which will hopefully meet people's expectations to have

more convenient places to park close to the shops.

"However, we will continue to monitor the situation and remain flexible should people feel that further changes need to be made."
