Pudsey parking woes eased

Parking woes in Pudsey will be eased after more car parking spaces have been reinstated.

The short stay car park in Pudsey market place was closed recently to make way for the town's new bus station.

The new Metro bus station is due to be completed by September 2010.

Now shoppers will be able to breathe a sigh of relief after 40 new short stay car parking spaces have been reinstated in existing car parks in Pudsey.

A total of 27 two-hour short stay car parking spaces have been freed up in the leisure centre car park in the spaces that run adjacent to the park.

An additional 13 two-hour short stay car parking spaces have also been reinstated in the Lidgett Hill car park.

Town centre manager Nigel Conder said: "I am happy that we have managed to free up these car parking spaces in order to help people who just want to shop in the town for a couple of hours rather than the whole day.

"We recently carried out a parking survey to find out if people are using Pudsey for parking and riding.

"It has shown that people aren't parking and riding in town.

"The car parks are used by people who work in the town of those shoppers that are just visiting Pudsey for a few hours.

"These spaces will be helpful over the Christmas period and attract more people to the town that will be able to park for a couple of hours."
