Police injured after disturbance at Beeston pub
Eight police officers were hurt after a Christening party at a Leeds pub decended into a mass brawl.
Nine people were arrested during the fracas at the Tommy Wass pub in Old Lane, Beeston on Sunday evening.
Trouble flared at just after 6pm when three men became involved in a fight outside the pub.
Police were called but chaos soon erupted when one of the trio punched a policeman in the head and ran into the pub.
As backup arrived, officers stormed the building but were "met with a wall of hostility and violence", a West Yorkshire Police spokesman said.
A Taser gun was used to subdue one man, and nine people - seven men and two women - were arrested for violent disorder, assault, and assaulting a police officer.
Two of those arrested were teenagers.
Police confirmed eight officers had been injured, one suffering mild concussion, and the others a series of cuts and grazes.
Superintendent Paul Money, of the City and Holbeck Division, said: "Our officers are all too aware of the risks they face on duty, but it is still disappointing to learn of so many people becoming involved in attacking and obstructing constables who are making an arrest over an incident of violence reported to them by a concerned member of the public."
He said twocomplaints about officers' handling of the incident had been received by the City and Holbeck Division.
Police now want to hear from other people who were in the Tommy Wass pub last night and may have filmed the trouble on their mobile phones.
Witnesses should call 0845 6060606.
