Pasta dish boosts Headingley hospice funds

A Headingley restaurant is celebrating after selling 1,000 pasta dishes to raise funds for Wheatfields Hospice.

Each time Pasta Casalingha is served up at Salvo's in Headingley 50p goes to the charity – so 500 has been raised since owner John Dammone introduced the dish.

John is a strong supporter of the nearby hospice, bought by Sue Ryder Care in 1976, the same year Salvo's opened.

He also runs an art exhibition on the first floor of the restaurant, donating 10pc of sales to Wheatfields.

He said: "Our customers and the residents of Headingley and surrounding areas are so privileged to have the services that Wheatfields offers on our doorstep."

A spokesman for the hospice said: "A special thank you to all at Salvo's and their customers who have bought the Wheatfields dish."
