Mr Bowry said: "Clubmark was a massive boost for the club's profile and status, both for the local area and West Yorkshire as a whole".

Tony has also confirmed he will be recommending the club for "Focus Club" status, the next step along the development path of the club.

The evening was attended by three local dignitaries, Rachel Reeves, the local prospective Labour MP and two Green Party Councillors for the local areas of Wortley and Farnley District, Andy Parnham and David Blackburn.

Club chairman, John Baldwin, who leads a dedicated team of volunteers and coaches at the club, told Wortley Today: "Since basing the club 13 years ago at The Barry Jackson Ground, the club now boasts six senior men's teams; two playing in the CYL League, three in the Dales Council League and a newly formed Development team in the Wakefield & District "Sunday" League. Five junior age teams ranging from Under 9's to Under 17's which play in the Heavy Woollen District Junior League along with the newly amalgamated New Farnley Leeds Ladies cricket team who play in the Northern Premier Women's League."

Mr Baldwin added: "Cricket Club's like New Farnley now need to be run just like any other business and Clubmark is the first major step in helping the club to now push even further forward with the many proposed idea's for expanding and developing the club facilities, to try and accommodate the ever increasing number of players wanting to play at the club in not just men's cricket but also Junior, Girls and Ladies cricket.

"The club also supports four football teams who use the ground and facilities during the winter months, so as you can imagine with only two changing rooms within the clubhouse, the ground and facilities are in much need of further development."
