New church toilets for Horsforth

Woodside Methodist Church in Horsforth held an official ceremony to open their new community centre extension and toilets.

Horsforth councillors Brian Cleasby and Chris Townsley had the honour of cutting the ribbon.

The church and its community centre are extremely popular with a minimum of 400 people passing through the doors every week.

The outer north west committee gave 5,000 towards the cost of the new facilities which now include separate disabled, male and female toilets.

Before this the disabled and male toilet was shared and the female toilet had steps to enter. The new space is much improved and has level access.

Councillor Brian Cleasby (Lib Dem, Horsforth) said after the ceremony:

"They are just what is needed in the modern age as disabled people and elderly residents will have access to much improved, safer, spacious and better equipped facilities. These improvements will help the church serve the community even better than it does currently.

"Thanks are due to Reverend George Bailey for all the wonderful work he is doing for this part of Horsforth."
