Moortown: Have your say on local issues
Residents in Moortown are invited to attend a community event which will give them the chance to shape the future of their neighbourhoods.
Organised by the Inner North East Area Committee, Thursday's event will be attended by local ward councillors, council representatives and community police officers.
The aims are to find out what issues are most important to residents, give them a greater voice and make sure that their priorities feature in future planning for their area.
The 'Have your say' event is an opportunity for residents to speak directly to council representatives and local councillors about what their priorities are. These could range from better activities for young people to a cleaner environment; safer streets to increased opportunities for community activity. The events will be fun and interactive, with residents using keypads to select their priorities in a simple exercise.
The Inner North East Area Committee is made up of ward councillors from the area to represent the views of local residents. The committee has an area delivery plan, which details actions that will be carried out to make inner north east Leeds a better place to live in. Feedback from the events will directly influence the area delivery plan for next year, so residents who attend will have a huge role in shaping the future of their neighbourhoods.
Councillor Matthew Lobley, Chair of the Inner North East Area Committee said:
"This is an ideal opportunity for people in Moortown to help decide which issues they want the council to focus on in their area. The area committee has an annual budget and the feedback that residents give at these events will help us make the right choices when paying for extra services. The events are also an opportunity to find out more about council services, voice any concerns and put forward views about local matters"
The drop-in style event will take place at Allerton Grange School from 4pm until 6pm.
