He has become the 1,000th person to volunteer for YW's One Million Green Fingers campaign.

The aim is to see gardens opened at 350 Yorkshire primary schools, helping pupils learn about issues such as water conservation and climate change.

YW staff have devoted more than 7,000 volunteer hours to the campaign since its 2007 launch.

Adrian, a field technician for YW, told Cross Gates Today: "My work with St Theresa's allows me to give something back to my local community and really help some of these children. I have supported the school now for about five years."
