But the race won't be that day's only attraction at Temple Newsam – the estate will also be hosting a tree climbing competition.
It will see suitably-qualified tree care professionals from across the UK showcasing techniques they use in their working lives.
The number of climbing competitors is limited to 25 and there is an entry fee of 20 per person.
Application forms are available from Leeds City Council's Forestry Service at The Farm House, Red Hall Lane, Leeds LS17 8NB.
Funds raised by the Leeds Tree-Athlon proper have helped plant 18,000 trees at sites such as Guiseley's Springfield Park and Brookfield recreation ground, between Rodley and Calverley.
This year's event is being organised by the Trees for Cities environmental charity with support from the city council and Metro, West Yorkshire's passenger transport authority.
