Lawnswood School's U-16's basketball team reach last 32

A very impressive team performance saw Lawnswood School qualify to gain a place in the last 32 of the English U-16s open basketball competition.

Lawnswood School 55

Fulford 34

The whole team played an excellent game – especially after switching to man-to-man defence for the first time competitively. This kept a very competent and well organised Fulford team at only 15 points at the end of the second quarter, 34 points being scored in total at full time.

Most Valuable Player – Joe Redfern (22 points scored including three three-pointers)

Both Voicech Sereskji and Joe Wood scored double figures in the game and are big assets to the team. They have been key components in Lawnswood's success over the last two crucial games and will be looking to build on their solid performances in the next game against the winners between North Chadderton and Poynton School.

Joe Carrick of Y8 also deserves mention, since joining the Y11 squad he has grown vastly in confidence and played a great game for Lawnswood as our point guard.
