John Smeaton Community College: GCSE pass rate jumps
Students and staff at John Smeaton Community College are celebrating after its GCSE pass rate jumped from 53 to 71 per cent.

Only three years ago the school posted a 14 per cent pass rate, making it one of the fastest-improving schools in England.
Headteacher John Daulby said: "It's a bit better than we thought it would be, but we anticipate our pupils will improve every year.
"Students now believe that they can achieve as well as anybody and that's the joy from our point of view."
