Horsforth teenager beats the odds to organise a 200-guest charity ball
A Horsforth teenager has refused to let health troubles hold her back after organising a 200-guest charity ball for Martin House and Great Ormond Street Children's Hospital.
Lucy Greenwood, 14, has also spent the last week collecting cash for Chidlren In Need after taking donation buckets to the local library and leisure centre.
Despite being given just 24 hours to live, the teenager has battled a stroke and a string of health problems related to her premature birth.
Recently heart troubles have forced her back into hospital and Lucy has to be monitored by doctors every fortnight.
Proud mum Yvonne, 38, said: "She said to me one day, I know I've got special needs but there's children out there worse off than me. I want to do something for Martin House and Great Ormand Street Hospital and
I'd like to organise a ball. She really is unstoppable."
The ball takes place on February 14 next year.
