Parking regulations will soon be introduced on Lee Lane West, Southway, Montfort Close, Westbrook Lane, West End Lane, Brownberrie Lane and Scotland Lane.

If there are no valid objections, then the proposed scheme would include:

* Permit holders only, Monday-Friday 8am-6pm on sections of Lee Lane West, Southway, Montfort Close and Westbrook Lane.

* No waiting at any time on sections of Lee Lane West, Southway, Brownberrie Lane and Scotland Lane.

The work, which is expected to cost 25,000, will be funded by Leeds Trinity University College as part of a section 106 agreement in relation to current development on the campus.

Councillor Chris Townsley (Lib Dem, Horsforth) said he was pleased that a solution had been found following the hard work over the last two years.

Coun Townsley said: "All of the residents nearby will get a letter from us about the scheme outlining exactly what will be happening.

"It would be absolutely wonderful if it could be up and running by the end of the year. The college has acknowledged that there is a problem and they have agreed to fund the work."

A spokesman from the college said: "Leeds Trinity University College recognises concerns from local residents and has contributed extensively to a resident parking scheme at a cost of 25,000.

"The implantation of this is now with Leeds City Council.

"We are delighted with the progress that has been made over the last year with our travel plans following the contributions made through our

community liaison group.

"The resident parking scheme is just one of the many travel initiatives we have introduced this year including; an extended free shuttle bus service, which also open to local residents, cycle lockers, car share scheme for students and staff and subsidised bus vouchers."
