Horsforth pupils celebrate diversity of cultures and fashion
Children at Horsforth's Froebelian School have been involved in a whole school art project, celebrating the diversity of cultures and fashion around the world.

At a time when there is much political unrest in so many countries around the world, the project portrays a powerful visual image of how we could all live together in harmony.
The impressive display is made up of individual characters, each created from an ordinary wooden spoon. Every child in the school, from the three year olds to the eleven year olds was given the opportunity to work on the art project, creating their own "Spoon person".

These "people" were based on themselves, famous people, or well-known characters, which were brought together at the end of the intensive Art Week to create a collection of more than 200 people from around the world.
The spoon people range from very simple spoons, produced by the three year olds, to much more ambitious and recognisable personalities, such as 'David Bowie', 'The Stig', Ozzy Osbourne', 'Albert Einstein', 'Barack Obama' and 'Mr & Mrs Shrek' with lots of detail.
Even the teachers at Froebelian and some of the parent helpers made a person for the mural.
The end result has emerged after more than 45 hours of art, packed into a four-day period, with numerous hours of help and support from parents and carers.
Nicky Smith, the school's art co-ordinator, designed and led the project, and is delighted by the commitment and enjoyment of the parents and the children alike.
The mural took two days to assemble, and is currently on display in the school hall.
It will form the backdrop to Froebelian's Music and Drama Festival later this month, also on the same theme.
Headteacher, John Tranmer, hopes that the project will move to a local gallery or museum towards the end of the year.
