Horsforth: Homes get gardens after 40-year wait
Residents in Horsforth have been given their own private gardens – almost 40 years after their homes were built.
Tenants who live in the houses on Brownberrie Walk are enjoying the change of communal land into private gardens
The work was carried out by Leeds and Yorkshire Housing Association, who built the homes in 1965.
Following consultation with residents, they converted shared garden space into individual private gardens at the back of the houses.
In all, some 14 terrace homes and people living in a block of flats have benefited from the project.
Colin Barker, who has lived on Brownberrie Walk with his wife since 1973, said:"The people who carried out the work were incredibly efficient which made the whole process even better than we anticipated.
"My wife is delighted with our new outdoor space as she is a very keen gardener."
The project was paid for as part of the Housing Association's Invest programme, which supports and funds improvements for tenants.
