Horsforth concert to help African families
A choir concert at Woodside Methodist Church in Horsforth next month will feature the Chippendale Singers of Otley and oboe player Rachel Deacon.
The concert, scheduled for Friday, February 8, will raise funds to support Students Partnership Worldwide, particularly its work with women and children in South Africa.
In 2006 Rachel worked as a volunteer in the Transkei, a region in South Africa, and saw the devastating effects of violence and rape on women and their families.
She is hoping to raise money to promote some awareness events in that
region on and around Women's Day in August.
The accompanist will be Richard Wilson, Organist and Master of the Choristers at St Chad's Church, Far Headingley.
The concert will last for about two hours with an interval in which refreshmentswill
be served.
Tickets cost 6 (4 concessions) and will be available on the door.
