Headingley's Shire Oak Primary: New children learning facility
Youngsters were joined by TV favourite Bob the Builder as they opened a new learning facility at their Headingley school.
The pupils were celebrating the opening of a new children's centre at Shire Oak CoE Primary on Wood Lane in Headingley.
The centre is part of a national Government scheme to offer new or upgraded resources for pre-school age children.
The new Headingley centre will cater for 24 three to five-year-olds every morning, with the possibility of afternoon sessions in the future.
Shire Oak headteacher Mark Edwards said facilities included a "magic garden" full of stimulating learning areas. There is also a family and parental support area within the centre which will offer lots of different services to the community.
"There will be classes such as baby massage and parenting courses and we will work in partnership with a range of other agencies, including local colleges," he said.
