Headingley: Robbers try to steal car from driveway
A passing motorist went to the aid of a man who was being attacked by robbers trying to steal his car.
The 27-year-old victim was attacked as he pulled into his driveway in Shaw Lane, Headingley,Leeds at 6pm on Monday.
He was punched to the ground and was forced to hand over the keys to his blue Audi S3.
A driver passing the house spotted the attack and jumped from his vehicle and chased the robber who had grabbed the keys. The robbery escaped along nearby Burton Crescent. The second robber also ran off.
A second witness reported seeing the would-be-robbers arrive at the scene in a dark grey or black Volkswagen Golf or similar vehicle. Detectives believe the robbers may have followed the victim's car before attacking him.
The robber who grabbed the keys is white, aged 18 to 20, about 6ft tall and slim with wide shoulders. He was wearing a red and navy waterproof jacket with a v-shaped red top half and dark blue bottom and blue jeans. He was clean shaven with a very short - Grade One - shaved black hair.
The other was described as being of similar appearance but slightly shorter. He was wearing a grey hoodie and jogging bottoms.
North West Leeds police are appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident or saw the robbers following the victim's car prior to the attack to contact Det Con Pete Wilson at Weetwood police station via 0845 6060606 or Crimestoppers, anonymously and in confidence, on 0800 555 111.
