Headteacher Mark Edwards explained that after years of exchanging emails and letters, it was time for the youngsters to learn about another culture first hand.
The children will also visit ancient Buddhist and Hindu temples and an elephant orphanage.
And while the children are at school, their parents will take part in cultural activities with Sri Lankan mums.
The trip is partly being paid for by the children's own fundraising, which has included car washes and a summer fair.
Some funding has also been provided by the British Council. A group from Sri Lanka will come to Leeds for the return visit next summer.
