Headingley: Haley's Hotel is sold
Haley's Hotel, which called in administrators earlier this year, has a new owner.
The Hotel has been sold through specialist hotel agents Colliers Robert Barry acting on behalf of administrators, Baker Tilly.
The town house hotel, in Shire Oak Road, has 26 individually designed en-suite letting bedrooms plus public areas including meeting rooms and a well-known restaurant.
The new owner is businessman and hotelier Gordon Jowett, who already owns the 76-room Corn Mill Lodge Hotel on Pudsey Road, Bramley.
Mr Jowett said he would be rolling out an investment programme to modernise Haley's.
He added: "Haley's is well-known to me and I firmly believe that with the right level of management and investment, it can earn back its reputation for high quality accommodation and cuisine.
"The hotel is located just outside Leeds city centre and benefits from
the cricket and university graduation trade in the summer.
"It has huge potential and complements my other hotel in Pudsey extremely well."
The sale price has not been disclosed but Colliers Robert Barry were seeking offers over 1.25m for the freehold.
The future of the hotel was thrown into doubt in April when the business, which at the time employed 20 people, went into administration.
The hotel's failure came as a shock to couples planning summer weddings at the venue, which was awarded four stars by the AA.
But administrators from Baker Tilly Recovery and Restructuring said all planned nuptials would go ahead at the hotel while they searched for a buyer.
Phil Pierce, from Baker Tilly in Leeds, said at the time: "Haley's has great potential and we are confident that we will find a buyer."
The administration team also pledged to look at ways it could improve the performance of the hotel and restaurant.
