Guiseley: Splash of cash for town's floral displays
Volunteers of Guiseley in Bloom have been awarded £1,600 to help cover the cost of watering floral displays in the town.
The funding has come from Leeds City Council's Well-Being Fund, which allocates cash to community projects.
Guiseley in Bloom was established in 1999 to ensure that the town presents an attractive face to residents and visitors.
The hard work that the group of volunteers has put in over the last ten years was rewarded with a Silver Gilt Rose at this year's Yorkshire in Bloom awards.
The award was made to recognise the lasting improvement to the community.
Coun John Bale (Cons, Guiseley and Rawdon) said: "Guiseley's environment is considerably enhanced by the work of Guiseley in Bloom, which benefits everyone by helping to foster a sense of pride and community.
