Garforth's Poppy Appeal efforts raises thousands
Members of the Military Vehicle Trust (Yorkshire branch) and their vehicles were a big hit with shoppers on Garforth Main Street supporting local volunteers taking part in this year's Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal.
The volunteers along with local businesses, schools, churches, pubs, clubs, and hotels helped raise just over 8,000 towards the Royal British Legion's welfare work with our serving and ex-service men and women.
It was a magnificent achievement, which could not have been realised without the generosity of the people of Garforth who deserve a big vote of thanks.
Younger members too, added to the success of the appeal through donating and collecting from the public; Garforth Venture Scouts for instance, raised a fantastic 1050 by giving up their free time on two Saturdays to collect from shoppers at Tesco Store during the appeal.
