Garforth Arts Festival 2010 forges links with South Africa

Children are getting a real kick out of the links between Garforth Arts Festival and World Cup host country South Africa.

Festival organisers today confirmed that the Mighty Zulu Nation Theatre Company will be performing at Garforth Community College on June 28, the event's opening day.

The theatre company's members - who hail from the province of KwaZulu-Natal in South Africa - are promising their audience a feast of music and dance entertainment.

They will be joined on stage by youngsters from several local schools, including Strawberry Fields Primary, East Garforth Primary and Ninelands Primary.

The company is currently holding workshops in the schools to help get the pupils primed for their big performance.

This year's Garforth Arts Festival runs until July 10, when Garforth Community College will hold a closing 'Playground Party' bash featuring sets from folk singer Seth Lakeman and indie act Get Cape Wear Cape Fly.
