Froebelian: Horsforth school takes maths title
Pupils from a Horsforth school beat off stiff competition from 24 other schools to win the recent Leeds Primary Maths competition.

Gary Bhoghal, Bethany Hemsley, Gabriella Marner and Rishi Naru from the Froebelian School performed well in their individual and team events and in a difficult 'murder mystery' round to take the title.

The nature of the competition dictated that the teams were not given any idea of the type of questions that would feature, leaving maths co-ordinator Jill Horrocks unable to give any specific preparartion.
Headteacher John Tranmer said: "Our excellent SATs results and success in the 11+ entrance exams confirm our high standards, but this is the icing on the cake."
