Former Lawnswood pupil chosen for overseas expedition
Former Lawnswood School pupil Andy Kent is on the crest of a wave after being chosen to take part in an overseas sailing expedition.
The newly-qualified soldier will visit the Falkland Islands and Rio de Janeiro in Brazil during the five-week assignment.
He was picked for the expedition after impressing his instructors during a six-month course at the Army Infantry Training Centre in Catterick, North Yorkshire.
Private Andy Kent, 21, said: "I feel really lucky to be offered what I hope will be a trip of a lifetime."
Looking back on his training course at Catterick, Andy added: "It was a great experience.
"Although I found it hard work, it is also rewarding.
"I am now fitter and have a new love of the outdoors."
