Florrie Baldwin: Pudsey woman celebrates 113th birthday
Pudsey's Florrie Baldwin, the UK's oldest person, celebrated her landmark 113th birthday surrounded by four generations of her family.
The supercentenarian is now the second oldest person in Europe and the 12th oldest in the world.
Florrie is in remarkable good physical health and does not take any regular medication.
Her daughter Maisie Worsnop, 88, told Pudsey Today: "It's absolutely marvellous.
She's very, very healthy. She's no aches and pains and doesn't take any tablets. She just gets very tired quickly."
Mrs Worsnop puts her mum's longevity down to not smoking or drinking and working hard.
Grandson David Worsnop, 62, also thinks her strength of mind has helped.
"She is a very quiet person but she is very strong-willed and I think that's what's carried her through," he said.
"She worked till she was 75, full-time."
His brother Marshall, 61, added: "They actually asked her to leave as they couldn't legally employ her anymore. She's lived through 27 elected prime ministers, six monarchs and three centuries."
David said it was fantastic she had reached 113 and the family was very proud.
Florrie, born in 1896, was originally from Hunslet and married painter and decorator Clifford Baldwin in 1919.
She moved to Woodhouse and worked as a clerk for engineering firm George Bray and Co for 50 years.
Mr Baldwin died in 1973 and Florrie lived alone until the age of 105 – even still putting up curtains and cleaning her own windows.
Florrie's grandsons were joined by their wives Marjorie and Lorraine, great-granddaughter Helen and great-great grandsons Oliver and Harrison at the party at Radcliffe Gardens Nursing Home in Pudsey.
In total she is a great grandmother of six and great great grandmother of five.
Guests enjoyed an 113-shaped cake made by the home's chef which featured 113 iced flowers.
They also looked at her latest card from the Queen and a special telegram from the Government's Department for Work and Pensions.
Florrie became the oldest person in the UK in 2007.
