Firm gives Beeston school library a boost

A developer has stepped forward to provide pupils at Beeston Hill Primary School with a state-ofthe-art extension to their library.

Community regeneration specialists Frank Haslam Milan (FHM) sent a team of building contractors to build new bookshelves, pull down a partition wall to make the work space bigger and redecorate the room.

The newly refurbished library was recently unveiled by FHM's community liaison officer Jan Glover.

She said: "The children were desperately in need of an extension to

their library as the school has just invested in a whole new reading

system but they were beginning to run out of space.

"We have decorated the library and by taking one of the partition

walls away, it has made a tremendous difference to pupils as the

library is much bigger now.

"We also provided the children with new bookshelves which were gratefully received as the school needed more storage with the

amount of books they've been getting."

Teachers at Beeston Hill Primary School told FHM about the need for an extension to the library when the company gave a health and safety presentation to the school last year.

The presentation was part of a touring workshop specially

designed to educate children about the dangers of playing on building

sites.

She added: "We have done a lot of work around the Beeston area to provide people with decent homes, in partnership with Aire

Valley Homes.

"It's great to be able to put something back into the community by

working on the library in this way."
