Visitors were also invited to bring along their favourite tunes to take part in the town's own version of Desert Island Discs, on a beach complete with palm trees.

Dick Bonham, from organisers the Farsley Youth Development Project (FYDP), said: "We were here at 7am setting up and it had been tipping down beforehand but by the time we kicked off the weather had cleared up.

"We had a big old sing-along around the piano. Loads of young people from the area came along from early in the morning and helped us put it together – they were absolute troupers."
