Farnley pupils pass the Dragons test to earn funds for a sandwich bar
A Farnley school's pupils are running their own sandwich bar –after winning funding through a Dragon's Den-style grilling.

Pupils at Farnley Park High School, run their own Young Chamber Council, backed by Leeds Chamber of Commerce.

It came up with the idea of the Lunch Box sandwich bar in an effort to promote healthy eating and make a profit to be ploughed back into school catering.
It produced a business plan which they presented to a panel of judges.
These included Leeds Chamber chief executive Gary Williamson and representatives from Leeds Building Society, Subway, Leeds City Council, LS17 Restaurant and Local Enterprise Growth Initiative (LEGI).

The youngsters faced tough questions and comments from the judges, demonstrating that the business is sustainable and how it will benefit the school and local community.
LEGI approved the proposal and the Lunch Box is now officially open, catering for more than 800 students.
