Farnley Park under fire from Ofsted
Farnley Park Maths & Computing College has been told to improve by watchdog Ofsted.
The College is judged inadequate in overall effectiveness and outcomes for pupils.

But the report recognises "notable improvements" following the
formation of a partnership with Morley High in October.

And Morley's head John Townsley, who became executive head of Farnley Park, said the partnership had been such a success there were plans for the two schools to form a trust.

The Ofsted report states: "This school requires significant improvement because it is performing significantly less well than in all the circumstances it could reasonably be expected to perform.

"The school is therefore given a notice to improve."
They said "significant improvement" was needed as attainment was low and the quality of students' learning and progress inadequate.
But the inspectors said there had been significant improvements since autumn 2009, including behaviour and attendance and a reduction in exclusions.
The watchdog said Mr Townsley, who splits his time between the schools, had skilfully targeted support at areas of greatest need and put in place appropriate staff and systems to secure improvements.
"They are beginning to have an impact, particularly in terms of staff morale and creating a better environment for learning."
Mr Townsley said: "Anyone reading the report can see that despite the
fact that this intervention has only taken place since October 2009, that dramatic and very significant improvements have already been noted in the school and I think that's the reason why the school was ble to avoid getting a special measures judgment."
He said proposals for the schools to form a trust were going out to consultation "to explore the various ways in which Morley High School can remain in longer-term partnership with Farnley Park."
Trust schools are state-funded and supported by a charitable trust made up of the school and partners.
Farnley Park serves a catchment in West Leeds that includes areas of social and economic disadvantage and has 829 pupils.
