As reported, more than 200 junior rugby league players at East Leeds ARLFC were left without anywhere to play when the travellers moved in May.

Leeds City Council tried and failed three times to take court action against the encampment on the former Copperfield's

College site in Cross Green.

Originally around 60 caravans had been set up on the site. But most of those, believed to be from the Manchester area, have now moved on leaving around 12 which are believed to have been set up by local travellers.

Club bosses held talks with the remaining travellers this week who agreed to move further away from the pitches to allow them to be used.

Club committee member Steve Jones said: "The talks were really positive, we understand where they are coming from and they understand our point of view."
