Danyl Johnson: X Factor star to perform at Wakefield Wildcats

X-Factor star Danyl Johnson will be kicking off the new season for Wakefield Wildcats with a half-time show.

Danyl, who was one of the favourites to win the show last time around, is set to wow the fans at the Wildcats' first home game of the Super League XV season.

The 27-year-old singing sensation came fourth in last year's X-Factor.

He had been the frontrunner throughout the first half of the competition and was tipped by many to win.

After he burst onto the scene with a memorable rendition of the Beatles' classic With A Little Help From My Friends, music mogul and X-Factor supremo Simon Cowell said had performed the "best first audition ever".

He then became a firm favourite on the show, topping the public vote in weeks one, four and five, before finishing fourth.

Danyl, who before his stint on the show worked as a drama teacher in Berkshire, will entertain the crowd at the Hearwell Stadium during half-time of the clash with Catalans Dragons on Sunday, February 7 – a rematch of last season's elimination play-off game.

New Wildcats signings Terry Newton, Glenn Morrison, Darryl Millard, Shane Tronc, Paul King, Ben Jeffries and Paul Johnson will all be in line to make their home debuts.
