Cuban carnival helps refuge charity celebrate
CUBAN music and a carnival atmosphere are on the cards for a charity's first fundraising ball.
Domestic violence charity Leeds Women’s Aid (LWA) is holding a fun-packed evening to help victims fleeing abusive partners.
The party at Leeds United banqueting suite on November 22 will celebrate 35 years work in which it has helped protect 150,000 women and children.
As well as music from Leeds band the Cuban Music Ensemble, a salsa instructor will be on hand to get people moving.
There will also be an auction and organisers hope to have a couple of extra-special lots going under the hammer.
Rosie Robinson of LWA said: “We want people to have a really good time because this is a celebration of the number of women we have protected.”
Tickets cost 50 and include a three course meal and wine.
Proceeds will help turn one of LWA’s Leeds refuges into self-contained flats.
To buy tickets or offer auction prizes ring Jackie Offord on 0113 246 0401 or email jackieo@leedswomensaid.co.uk.
