Crowding comes to an end in Armley

A new housing development that will help ease overcrowding in west Leeds council homes has been unveiled.

The Farrow Road scheme in Armley has 14 three and four-bedroom homes for rent with a further 10 three-bedroom homes available for shared ownership.

The homes have been allocated to people living in Wortley and Armley.

Coun Peter Gruen, the council's executive member for housing,

said: "Whether we are in a recession or not, this city needs more affordable housing and this latest development is one of a number across Leeds.

"Farrow Road means that families in council homes that are too small for them can move, freeing up much needed accommodation for others.

"We are committed to doing everything we can to provide people with proper, decent homes."

Farrow Road is among a number of schemes being provided through the council's Strategic Affordable Housing Partnership, which uses council-owned land to attract public funding for affordable homes.
