Crossgates Shopping Centre gets ready to welcome Santa

This Sunday marks the start of the Christmas shopping season at Crossgates Shopping Centre complete with Santa's arrival and grotto opening.

Entertainment will take place in the centre of Crossgates' malls from 11am till 2pm, with Santa arriving in a stylish fairytale procession up to the Grotto at 11.55am.

Amongst those in Santa's entourage will be much-loved characters Percy the Penguin, Rudolph and the stilt-walking Christmas Fairy, with Pip, Pop and Frosty the Snowman providing specially crafted shows guaranteed to keep children entertained.

Children's favourite Mike Hancock will also give a special magic and circus show, whilst the ever-popular walkabout character Mad Dom will be on hand across the three hours performing a wide range of balloon-modelling and close-up magic. Kids are free to take the balloon sculptures home with them - but make sure they don't pop them on the way!

"We're very pleased to be able to host Santa's Grotto in the run-up to Christmas," said Crossgates Shopping Centre Manager Steve Seymour.

"The opening of the Grotto is always a very popular event and we look forward to welcoming everyone to the show on Sunday. All proceeds from the occasion will be going to St Gemma's Hospice in Leeds."

Santa will be at Crossgates Shopping Centre from Sunday, November 25 every Friday, Saturday and Sunday, and is also open every day from Monday, December 18, to Friday, December 22.

In the week before Christmas, Crossgates Shopping Centre also plans to open late till 7pm from Sunday, December 17, to Friday, December 22, with free parking available in the on-site car park after 5.30pm.
