Crossgates and District Good Neighbours Scheme was Crossgates Shopping Centre's chosen charity for 2008 and donations could be made by visiting the gorgeous Grotto and Nativity display, which was kindly provided by the Churches of East Leeds.
Crossgates & District Good Neighbours Scheme is a charity that was set up in 2002. It's aim is to work with older people (aged over 60) who live in Crossgates and surrounding areas, namely Halton, Temple Newsam, Whitkirk, Manston, Austhorpe, Pendas and Colton.

The donated cash will be used to help increase the charity's capacity to provide access to their services for older people who are housebound and or socially isolated, and need transport to get to the CDGNS Centre.
Jenny Sellars, CDGNS Project Coordinator, told Cross Gates Today: "Our core funding is provided by Leeds Adult Social Care and NHS Leeds, but we also receive grants from trusts to fund our development worker post and donations from a variety of sources to fund our other activities and services. We have a very committed team of 45 volunteers, without whom we couldn't provide the service we do to local older people.
"We would particularly like to thank Churches Together in Leeds 15 who nominated us and Stephen Seymour and all the staff at Crossgates Shopping Centre for all their help and support."
Stephen Seymour, Crossgates Shopping Centre Manager, said "Crossgates Shopping Centre was proud to announce their chosen charity for 2008 was CDGNS having been proposed by the Churches of East Leeds. CDGNS provides much needed support for the community and is a well attended organisation which has grown since it was set up in 2002 and offers an even wider range of services to its members.
"Since the scheme was established it has very quickly become an essential part of the Cross Gates community and its members are very much at the heart and soul of the community in which they live. Many of the members are regulars in the Centre and are seen four or five times a week visiting, shopping and meeting friends.
"I am sure that the generosity shown by all in very difficult financial times to raise the 451 is very much appreciated by the members, support staff and helpers at CDGNS and will be put to very good use over the next 12-months in continuing to provide this home from home's at St Teresa's church rooms."
