The Centre has been renovated and refurbished to a very high standard, largely thanks to a 5,000 grant from The Asda Community Foundation.

The Asda grant enabled the management committee to refurnish the centre, redecorate, provide secure storage space and even install a watering system for the centre's hanging baskets.

As part of the makeover, new kitchen units were installed with the aid of a 1,000 grant from communications company O2. The refurbishment was completed with the laying of a new carpet funded by several local businesses.

Following the ribbon cutting ceremony CDGNS chair, Councillor Bill Hyde opened the AGM by thanking the deputy Lord Mayor and other dignitaries for attending and expressed thanks to all the businesses that had been involved in providing funds for the refurbishment.

He stressed that without such support the scheme would not be able to provide such a high quality service to the community.

After the completion of the AGM business a delicious buffet lunch was served and much enjoyed by the audience.

The afternoon was completed with some delightful entertainment provided by keyboard artiste and singer Martin Hewitt who struck the right note with his audience by playing music from the fifties and sixties.
