Crossgates and District Good Neighbours Scheme celebrate £34,000 cash boost
Volunteers at Crossgates and District Good Neighbours Scheme are celebrating after receiving a £34,300 grant from the Lloyds TSB Foundation for England and Wales.
This generous cash injection will enable the trustees of the scheme to continue to employ a salaried part time development worker for the next three years, thus ensuring we can carry on supporting the elderly in our community.

Development worker Moira Flynn said" This is extremely good news, and I am looking forward to working with the scheme members over the next three years, both in improving the activities and services we already offer and hopefully introducing new ones."
The Lloyds TSB Foundation for England and Wales supports charities that help disadvantaged people to play a fuller role in the community.

The role of development worker within the scheme actively supports this ideal by providing activities designed to include those members of our community who are isolated either by age or physical dependency.
A prime example of such an initiative is the current Living History Project which Moira proposed and found funding for. This project is successfully reaching out to housebound members of our community and including them in the memory collecting sessions, thus allowing them to be active members of the group.
In this current economic climate GDGNS trustees are extremely grateful to the Lloyds TSB Foundation for England and Wales for supporting the invaluable work of the scheme.
