Cross Gates Diamond couple celebrate
A Diamond Cross Gates couple have celebrated 60 years together.
Joan and Derek Myers, of Barrowby Avenue, Austhorpe, were both pupils at Richmond Hill Primary and lived only a couple of streets apart.
They were married at Leeds Parish Church and lived in Cross Gates before moving to their present home 43 years ago.
Mr Myers, 81, served with the Royal Air Force in the Far East during the Second World War and was then a telegraphist at Leeds Station.
Joan,79, was a tailoress and later worked in a shop.
The couple, who have one daughter, celebrated their anniversary with a party at St Mary's Church Hall in Whitkirk.
