Cross Gates & Good Neighbours walking group enjoy countryside stroll

A near record 32 members of the CGNS Walking Group enjoyed a three mile walk through the delightful village of Boston Spa. Click here for more details.

Transported from Cross Gates in two mini-buses driven by volunteer drivers John Best and Jack Robertson, the group alighted at the church in the centre of the village.

Led by walk leaders Bob Lawrence and Harry Midgely the group wound its way through the woods above Jackdaw Crags to the banks of the river Wharfe.

After pausing to see the weir in full spate, they continued to the picnic area below the stone bridge for a coffee stop. They were surprised to discover that the tables and seating had been removed.

Nothing daunted however plastic bags and mini rugs were used for a welcome sit down. After the break, they proceeded along the river bank enjoying the colourful autumn foliage eventually emerging back onto the main road leading back to the village.

The weather remained good for walking and everyone returned to Crossgates remarking on how much they had enjoyed the afternoon.

* CGNS runs similar walks as part of the 'walking for health' initiative every Monday afternoon. For more information, telephone (0113) 2606565.
