At Christmas the Church was brightened by a wonderful Christmas tree and ever conscious of the need to recycle, the tree was converted to a cross. Each Sunday in Lent the members of the Junior Church opened the service with an element of the Easter story and they adorned the cross with items representing the various scenes from a basing of water and towel to a purple robe and crown of thorns.

Stones and Bread Lent Project

On February 10th members of the congregation were asked to take a stone home from the service and were asked to hold them and pray for the hungry in the world, each time putting some money alongside the stone. They were asked to return the stone – and the money –on Passion Sunday. The result was 203.41 representing approximately 195 loaves for the Christian Aid 'Feed the Hungry Campaign'.

Spring Celebration Coffee Morning

This raised 170.00 to support St. James' Childrens' Heartline and Colton Church.

Easter Day

This is a joyous time in all churches and Colton is no exception. The Junior church did some wonderful work and produced some bright picutes for the walls. The also produce the picture of life from a bulb to a flower, an egg to a bird, an acorn to a massive oak tree and the cross on Calvary to the stone rolled away for Jesus rising from the dead. The whole congregation dressed the Lenten Cross, now devoid of its various items, in Daffoldils – that wonderful reminder of Spring – to provide the wonderful scene portrayed.

Members of Colton Choir joined members of Christchurch Halton in their Mission Weekend Event 'Let My People Go'. The Saturday Evening Concert raised 685.90. This with Christchurch's Sunday service collection of 184.10 made a fantastic total of 870.00 for the Mission Fund. Thank you to all the people in both Churches for their hard work, a stalwart performance and giving of their time for such a worthy cause.

Colton Toddlers Group

On 14th April the Toddlers (and their Mums) are doing a 'Toddle Waddle' as part of the Meningitis Trust 2008 Toddle Waddle Month. They're toddling from the Church to the boundary of Templenewsome and back up. They will then have some Toddle Waddle' colouring to do, some play dough to play with and some specially deserved treats. We wish them Good Luck with the walk, their Sponsorship and above all the notorious English Weather.

Thursdays About Group

Having got that performance under their belts, the Choir have been putting in some more hard work to polish their repertoire for the next perfomance. April 17th sees them in action again when they perform a medley of light music.

Colton Stewards

The end of April sees Mrs Jenny Mullins retiring after many years as a steward and senior steward. Our thanks to Jenny for all of her hard work and guidance. The other stewards will miss her guiding hand and we will try to follow her good example under the guidance and support of Mrs Mary Curl who has agreed to take on the mantle of senior steward.
