Christ Church, Halton: User groups and activities

Christ Church, Halton is used by a wide range of both church and community groups. Its facilities are available to hire.

Junior Church

Meets at 10.30am every Sunday except the first in the month. All children are welcome from the age of 3 to 16. Young people of 16 or over may choose to remain with their friends in the upper group or stay in church with the rest of the congregation.

Youth Fellowship

Meets from 7pm to 8pm in the coffee Lounge on the 1st and 3rd Sunday of each month. It is made up of young people (ages 12-17) who have Christ Church connections, and looks at all aspects of everyday life and current events from a Christian perspective. It provides a time and place for discussion, sharing views and opinions about matters that affect us as individuals, as a group, as a Church and in the wider community.

Zero Plus

Zero Plus is a mixed group of parents, carers, grandparents, babies and toddlers from birth to nursery age.

They meet during term time on Tuesday morning from 9:15am until 11.00am. Coffee and chat are offered for the adults, and toys, juice and biscuits for the children. The session always includes signing and playing musical instruments with the children.

Bible Study groups & Housegroup

Bible Study Groups: The Monday Bible study group meets at Church weekly from 7.30pm to 8.30pm.

Housegroup: Meets alternative Thursdays throughout the year (in the odd weeks in the calendar), except during Lent (when most members attend.

Concordia

Concordia is a group of people who enjoy singing the Lord's praise. Practices are at church on the 2nd and 4th Sunday evenings of each month, from 7.15pm to 8.15pm.

Junior Youth Club

Aimed at boys and girls aged 8-11 years. Meets on Wednesday evening during term time from 6.30pm until 8pm. Activities on offer include crafts, sports, games and music. There is an opportunity to purchase refreshments and a drink is provided.

Christ Church Halton Guild

A group of men and women of all ages, which meets at 8pm on Tuesday evenings from September to Easter.

The Guild is open to all, whether you have Christ Church connections, belong to another church, another faith group or have 'no' affinities.

Townswomens' Guild

The Townswomen's Guild meets every second Monday in the month between 2pm and 4pm. It has speakers on a variety of subjects.

1st Halton Christ Church Brownies

Brownies is for girls 7 - 10 years old, meeting on Thursday evenings during term time, from 6:30 to 8:00pm.

The meetings include a varied programme of crafts, activities, games and mostly fun! It gives girls the opportunity of working together and learning new things.

Halton (Christ Church) Rainbows

Rainbows are the youngest members of Girlguiding UK , starting once they reach the age of 5 and can then move on to Brownies at the age of seven.

The Unit meets each Thursday in term time from 5.30pm to 6.30pm.

Arthritis Care (Halton Branch)

The group meets at 2.00pm on the first Tuesday of every month.

It aims to help people of all ages who suffer from arthritis, giving practical help such as filling in forms, NHS problems or Social Services problems.

Free transport can be arranged to the meetings.

Open House

A new activity for men and women, meeting Wednesday afternoon from 1.30pm to 3.30pm.

W.R.V.S. Halton Luncheon Club

The club offers a good nourishing meal of home made soup, a main course and a pudding for 2.30, plus 10p for a cup of coffee or tea, which is optional. There is no joining fee or weekly subs, but we do have a raffle, prizes mostly supplied by our members.

Dysphasia Support Group

The group meets every Monday 1.15 to 3.15pm and is run by the Stroke Association specifically for people experiencing communication difficulties following a stroke. Most are referred by their Speech Therapist, but friends, family or stroke survivors themselves are welcome. The sessions involve quizzes, games, speakers, exercise and occasional outings. These activities are done in pairs, or with others sitting at the same table, or the whole group.
