Councillor Matthew Lobley (Conservative, Roundhay ward and Chair of the North East (Inner) Area Committee), said: "The Chapeltown Townscape Heritage Initiative is a fantastic project. There are some great buildings of real historic significance in this area, and I am delighted that we are able to preserve and restore them.
"It is really important that we get local young people involved in the project, and this training scheme will help us do that. We will be running workshops and providing onsite training with local building firms. Youngsters will be given the opportunity to build with specialist materials and learn traditional construction techniques."
