Councillor Jane Dowson (Lab, Chapel Allerton) said: "We were absolutely delighted to join the Council's Parks and Countryside Team to help plant a tree on Sholebroke Street.
"This funding which we pressed for from the Area Committee has already meant that trees have been planted on other streets of Chapeltown such as the Reginalds and Elfords.
"Research has indicated in a number of ways how living in tree-filled neighbourhoods can have a very positive effect on the well-being of communities. It really will be great to see these trees burst into life and add some much needed greenery to the area.
"We will be doing everything in our power to press for further funding so even more streets in our community will be given the opportunity to be included in this fantastic project in the future."
