Chapeltown: Protest over youth worker

Youths staged a road demonstration in protest at Leeds Council plans to move a youth worker out of the Chapeltown district.

Between 70 and 80 youths set-up a protest which resulted in disruption of traffic on Chapeltown Road close to the Mandela Centre on Thursday, October 1.

The demonstrators gathered at about 4.30pm and police were involved in supervising traffic movements, but the protest was peaceful and there were no arrests.

The protest broke up about 6pm.
