Blueprint protects Roundhay

Roundhay residents have created a protection plan to maintain the suburb's character after four years of work.

Locals formed the Roundhay Planning Forum to create the very

first neighbourhood design statement in the city to cover the whole of the ward.

A ceremonial handover of the draft document was led by chairman of the

Roundhay Planning Forum Michael Fox to Coun Barry Anderson who

was acting on behalf of the leader of Leeds City Council, Coun Andrew Carter.

The design statement is expected to act as a template for all wards in the city once it is completed.

The north east area committee helped fund the project which saw more than 800 Roundhay residents help shape the document
