The challenge was the latest in site activities the construction firm has provided during their work on the site of the former Merlyn Rees High School.

Julie Addinall, who lives on Windmill Approach, said: "This is a great way to get the local community involved. My daughter really enjoyed the brickwork challenge with Wates and their sub-contractor C & I Smith; especially considering she won a 10 voucher."

The 5m Hub will be a state-of-the-art youth facility that will provide activities such as motorbike and go-kart workshops; a hair and beauty zone; job and careers advice; a music and media studio; health clinics and an allotment garden.
