Aberford: Village youth group starts

Young people in Aberford are to get a new interest from a youth group project.

Local councillors have agreed to help fund the project and have donated 500 for the supply of arts and crafts materials.

The group will meet in the Methodist Church two evenings a week and it is hoped that it will be up and running by November 16.

Coun Alec Shelbrooke (Con, Harewood) said: "There are limited facilities for young people in the Aberford area and the creation of this youth group will offer them a new place to meet. I am very pleased we have been able to help fund this important project and look forward to seeing the benefits it will bring to young people in the area."

Fellow Conservative Harewood councillor Rachael Procter said: "It is important that young people have somewhere safe to socialise with friends outside of school hours. This project will give young people the perfect opportunity to meet up with their peers, make new friends and take part in new activities."
