A summer Breeze blows into Temple Newsam

Temple Newsam Park will be the first stop off tomorrow for a festival roadshow celebrating youth culture.

The fourth annual Breeze on Tour offers a wonder-stuffed programme of free activities including sports, games for youngsters aged from eight to 19 as well as the chance to win Nintendo Wiis.

The fun kicks off at Temple Newsam tomorrow (12pm-5pm) and Thursday (12pm-5pm) before the fun moves on to four other venues across the city over the next month.

In the tour's Entertainment Zone there will be performances from local bands including The Anti Depressants, The Touch, A lot like Eskimos and The Masterplan, watch films created by Leeds youngsters in the cinema tent or challenge friends to a range of games in the gaming tent.

The Activity Zone focuses on sport and play, with shooting and goalkeeping skills on five a side pitches and community clubs at various venues to give demonstrations in a number of sports including Crossgates Lions junior football club.

Meanwhile the Art Zone includes drumming sessions, special effects scar-making, Indian dance and music, craft workshops, DJ workshops and video making.

There will be chances for one girl and one boy to go home with a Nintendo Wii.

The winners of a 250m sprint rowing challenge and a two lane timed race using hi-tech equipment to measure speed, agility and quickness, will be revealed when the tour finishes.

Councillor John Procter, Executive Member for Leisure, said: "Breeze on Tour continues to involve young people across the city, introducing them to new activities and new people.

"All the activities are free for Breezecard members so it is a great opportunity them to be active and express themselves."

Admission to all Breeze on Tour is free as are all the activities, with young people able to register by taking their BreezeCard with them.

Alternatively, those without a BreezeCard can register at the venue entrance or by completing the application form in advance online at www.breezeleeds.org or at any Leeds leisure centre or library.

The BreezeCard will allow them to take part in any activity at any venue.
