Leeds indie rockers Kaiser Chiefs WILL be touring as planned in 2013, it was confirmed today.

Reports in recent days have suggested that the shock departure of drummer Nick Hodgson could spell the end for the Kaisers.

But today the band’s management told the Yorkshire Evening Post they would be fulfilling all their concert commitments next year.

The YEP can also reveal that the Kaisers are already rehearsing with a new drummer.

Details about who has been picked to step into Hodgson’s shoes are due to be announced early next year.

Manager James Sandom told the YEP: “We’re excited for the future.

“The band have reignited the collaborative spirit from their first few albums and they’re hard at work writing their fifth studio album.

“[They] are rehearsing with their new drummer [and it’s] all systems go for 2013.”

The band’s busy schedule for next year includes a 14-date tour of the UK in February and March as well as a homecoming gig at the new Leeds Arena in September.

They will also be playing festival gigs in Brazil and Chile before supporting US rockers Green Day at London’s Emirates Stadium on June 1.

Kaisers founder member and main songwriter Hodgson stunned fans last week when he broke the news he was quitting the group.

He said on Twitter on Tuesday: “I can confirm I have left Kaiser Chiefs after 15 spectacular years. I’m moving on. I wish the rest of the band the very best!”

Hodgson has now released a longer statement explaining his reasons for leaving.

In it he says he wants to turn his attention to “other areas within the world of music and to pursue new challenges”.

He goes on: “It has not been an easy decision and one that the boys and I have discussed throughout this year.

“The band have been incredibly supportive of my decision. I wish them all continued success.”

The Kaisers have clocked up a string of hits, including I Predict A Riot and Oh My God.
